January is the month we have our intake of new members. We are busy welcoming a large contingent of enthusiastic singers, making them at home and part of Big Soul Project. Roxanne gets them to jump right in at their first rehearsal, where they learn a couple of our "standards" - "We are BSP" and "This Joy that I Have" - singing along with the experienced choir members. She also encourages them to just sing and enjoy the experience, explaining that anyone with a passion for singing is welcome.

BSP was featured recently on Radio-Canada program, "C'est ça, la vie". A film crew came to our first practice in January and spent most of the two hour rehearsal filming us. The show, which aired on January 12th, featured two of our francophone choir members talking about their passion for singing and the community-based approach of the choir.

BSP will be performing at two community events in late March. More on these performances will soon be featured in our Calendar.

2008

Big Soul Project welcomed Roxanne Goodman in 2008 as our new Music Director. In addition to her passion for music as an expression of community empowerment and inspiration, Roxanne brings a wealth of experience as an accomplished vocalist, composer and pianist.

Roxanne believes that empowerment comes from finding one's unique purpose and letting it shine through. Under her direction, Big Soul Project is growing and evolving, to find its own unique voice and sound. "Visualize a huge soul coming together in one voice," says Roxanne. "That is the 'big soul' in Big Soul Project."
