The Big Soul Project Band
Paul Hunsberger, Juan Macias, Joe Cuccaro, Richard Wielusiewicz, Stephen Szawlowski
Joe Cuccaro's inspiration first came from the Beatles. After graduating from the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe college he moved to Ottawa where he met Michael Macdonald while volunteering at a Stephen Lewis Foundation fund raiser. Joe has found ways to incorporate into his guitar playing aspects of the rock and roll he was raised on and traditional funk/soul techniques.
Paul Hunsberger has added a funky, old school texture with his diverse organ sounds. He has a touch that fills out the tunes nicely. Catch Paul in the Local Ottawa Band, J & E Grocery.
Juan (John) Macias, the energetic conga-man, provides a groove that gets audiences to their feet. He also plays with several other bands in Ottawa including J & E Grocery and a Ottawa Blues Fest favorite, Jokko. Good percussionists are in high demand!
Stephen Szawlowski is the newest member of the BSP band joining in September 2007. He brings a solid, melodic based bottom end that compliments all the arrangements he tackles. Stephen has been influenced by many of the bass masters including Jaco Pastorius and is a busy performer on the Ottawa music scene. You can see Stephen at many of the local jams, in Shakedown Groove and the MWB (Musicians Without Borders) bands.
Richard Wielusiewicz replaced Ron Rancourt behind the kit in February, 2006. He is very active in the Ottawa music community having played with Maria Hawkins and Al Tambay. Currently he lays down a solid groove for several bands including Wicked Grin and The Crowd. |
