$16,000 raised for the Ottawa Food Bank

Big Soul Project produced and performed their annual Christmas Concert at Carleton Dominion Chalmers Centre after 3 years of pandemic closures. The theme "Let's Celebrate!" was aptly named for everyone, choir, band, and audience alike, as we all felt very joyous during and after both the open dress rehearsal and the full concert.

Funds were raised within the choir to welcome guests to our concert who might not have otherwise been able to attend and we were so pleased they could share this joyful event with us.

This year we are thrilled to announce that between the two concerts BSP was able to raise $8,000 for the Ottawa Food Bank which was matched by an anonymous donor bringing the total to $16,000!! A reason to celebrate indeed.

We are looking forward to the next season and the opportunity to sing for other good causes in the Ottawa area. Hope to see you there!

On their feet - everyone singing and dancing to the beat!

Big Soul Project ended 2018 with a jubilant Christmas Concert at Dominion-Chalmers Church. At the end of the concert, we had everyone in the audience (800+) singing and dancing!

Not only did the audiences of our Christmas Concert and Rehearsal join the choir in lifting all our hearts in song, but they donated an amazing $5,700 for the Ottawa Food Bank! A very generous donor matched this for a total donation of $11,400. Since each dollar raised turns into five dollars of buying power, this translates into $57,000 worth of food to help people get beyond hunger – pretty amazing!

What you may not know is that we use our Christmas ticket sales to perform benefit concerts for many grass-root charities. In 2018, Big Soul raised $37,000 to fund programs for women and girls' education and work in Uganda and Tanzania, settling refugee families here in Ottawa, and supporting local street youth.
